Infiniem® & Marlin®: Next-Gen Institutional Trading & Brokerage Operations
Premier Brokerage Houses & Financial InstitutionsMarlin and Infiniem have completely streamlined our trading desk. Pre-trade risk enforcement that previously introduced latency is now imperceptible to our algorithmic clients.

Overview
Premier institutional brokerage houses required a consolidated front-to-back trading architecture to support high-frequency algorithmic flows and complex multi-asset execution. InfoTech deployed the Infiniem® OMS/EMS with in-memory pre-trade risk controls and the Marlin® post-trade brokerage operations suite, reducing trade execution latency to sub-15 microseconds and automating multi-venue trade reconciliation.
The Challenge
Premier institutional brokerage firms and proprietary trading desks were operating on fragmented OMS/EMS stacks — a combination of aging vendor platforms, custom-built middle-office systems, and disconnected back-office reconciliation tools that had been stitched together over multiple trading cycles. The absence of a unified pre-trade risk framework meant that risk rule evaluation was conducted out-of-band, introducing 200–800 microsecond latency penalties on every order that required margin computation or position limit validation.
As client order flow composition shifted increasingly toward algorithmic and high-frequency strategies, the infrastructure was no longer capable of sustaining the execution quality guarantees demanded by institutional counterparties. Direct market access (DMA) routing to multiple sovereign exchanges required maintaining individually managed FIX sessions with no intelligent order routing layer, leading to suboptimal execution prices and missed fill opportunities during fast-market conditions. The middle and back-office operations remained largely manual — reconciliation of daily positions, corporate action processing, and regulatory reporting were consuming significant operational resource with recurring accuracy failures.
The Solution
InfoTech deployed the Infiniem® Multi-Asset Order and Execution Management System as the unified front-office trading platform, paired with the Marlin® Brokerage Operations Suite for comprehensive middle and back-office automation. The Infiniem® OMS/EMS core was implemented with an in-memory risk cache architecture, enabling pre-trade risk rule evaluation — including real-time position limits, concentration checks, and dynamic margin requirements — to execute in under 2 microseconds without introducing measurable latency to order routing.
A smart order routing layer was engineered to simultaneously maintain active FIX sessions across all connected sovereign exchanges, evaluating real-time venue liquidity depth, bid-ask spreads, and execution probability scores to dynamically route each order fragment to the optimal execution destination. The Marlin® middle-office layer automated the complete post-trade lifecycle — from trade confirmation through position reconciliation, corporate action processing, and settlement instruction generation — reducing manual intervention to exception-only workflows. A FIX Drop Copy engine was implemented to deliver real-time execution reporting to prime brokers and clearing participants, eliminating the end-of-day reporting delays that had previously caused settlement disputes.
Strategy & Methodology
The deployment followed an ultra-low-latency staging strategy, implementing in-memory pre-trade risk caches directly adjacent to institutional DMA gateways. The transition decoupled order routing from middle-office post-trade clearing, allowing high-frequency algorithmic desks to achieve immediate microsecond gains while the Marlin® suite modernized back-office trade settlement, corporate action reconciliation, and prime broker reporting in parallel.
Impact & Results
The integrated Infiniem® and Marlin® deployment delivered a transformative step-change in execution quality and operational throughput across all connected brokerage desks. Execution latency was compressed to a consistent sub-15 microsecond order-to-acknowledgement round trip, enabling algorithmic trading strategies previously excluded from sovereign market participation due to latency constraints. Daily order flow capacity scaled to sustain $2.5 billion in notional value across equities, fixed income, and derivatives, with concurrent order volume increasing 10x without queue saturation.
Real-time portfolio margin calculations eliminated the pre-trade risk penalty latency that had been deterring high-frequency institutional participants, resulting in a 34% increase in institutional DMA client onboarding within 12 months of deployment. Middle-office position reconciliation accuracy improved to 99.97%, with automated corporate action processing eliminating a previously recurring category of client compensation claims stemming from manual processing errors. The brokerage operations now support full regulatory reporting compliance across multiple sovereign jurisdictions, with automated FIX Drop Copy delivery enabling real-time settlement confirmation to prime brokers and custodians within seconds of trade execution.
